Window Cleaners Trade Show Review

25th May 2017

Village Hotel Blackpool

We would like to thank both visitors for attending and the professional Exhibitors who supported the Federation of Window Cleaners 70th Anniversary trade show at the Village Hotel in Blackpool on the 25th of May 2017. comments: "We very much enjoyed showing our new Kiam Gutter Poles & Gutter cleaning systems. Many members showed a great deal of interest in our petrol & diesel pressure washers - ideal for use in patio & driveway cleaning." Kiam Products. "We had a successful show with some good quality leads. I would describe it as a micro trade show, based on the low foot fall, but it will certainly worth us attending". GrippaTank.

"As a manufacturer the opportunity to meet with both the distributors of the pump controllers and the professionals using the equipment day in day out can be very beneficial. It gives us an opportunity to discuss the benefits of pump controllers and how they can improve efficiency and reduce costs.

The Federation' s 70th anniversary exhibition and seminar presented us with just such an opportunity. The Village Hotel in Blackpool was a fantastic venue for such an event. For us it was a good experience. Spring (Europe)Ltd were pleased to be able to support the FWC in its 70th year"

We attracted new members on the day and had 18 contestants lining up to compete for the fastest window cleaner - and the winners are as follows:

1st place - Member Debbie Morris - 22.44 seconds - £100.00 prize
2nd place - Member Lee Clark - 22.70 seconds - £50.00 prize
3rd Place - Member Dave Morris - 26.08 seconds - £25.00 prize

All contestants had to clean three regulation size windows - any streaks resulted in penalty points. The competition was sponsored by Unger UK and the FWC. Expertly adjudicator by Scott Smith - timekeepers FWC Executive - Andrew Lee - FWC Chairman, Bryan Dolby and Steve Kennedy FWC Executive. Unfortunately, Terry Turbo Burrows was unable to make it on the day due to his Mum being very poorly....but he asked that we convey his apologies.

2017 Cleaning Show goes from strength to strength in London

The Cleaning Show 2017 saw 5,767 professional trade attendees including the great and the good from the cleaning and hygiene sector over three days ExCeL London, 14-16 March. The FWC 2017 Window Cleaning Company and Window Cleaner of the year compeition was a very close event. the judging panel consisting of five FWC executive committee members scored the entrants on theier qualifications, trainig, reasons for entry, testimonials and length of time in window cleaning - before narrowing down the many entrants to 10 finalists. The Window Cleaning Challenge was as always very popular, with over 30 contestants taking on Terry 'Turbo' Burrows, however Terry's Guinness World Record still remains unbeaten. Winners on the day Steve Fox, Glenn Bailey and John McClean each walked away with £250 cash with 14.02 seconds, 14.63 seconds and 16.39 seconds respectively. Terry even attempted to break his own record, but wasn't able to get under the 9.14 seconds he set in Blackpool in 2009.

"There's been a lot of talk of late saying events are dying out, but the phenomenal success of the Cleaning Show only goes to show this isn't the case. People still buy from people, and in the case of our industry in particular, where the right situation-specific solution is of critical importance to our customers, nothing beats face to face conversation. It's been a great show and a fantastic shop window to show industry professionals representing businesses large and small the unique strength and depth of the product range, complete cleaning solutions and services that Kärcher provides – even back in 1935 Alfred Kärcher knew it was the people in our company that make it a success and that still rings true today" said Craig McKay, Professional Business Unit Director, Kärcher UK.

The next event for your calendar is the Manchester Cleaning Show which will be held 11-12 April at Event City. The Manchester event attracts a more regional crowd, but is expected to see over 2,500 trade visitors.
